1. Who we are
Jakada (“we”, “our”, “us”) operates the Jakada platform, connecting clients with verified taskers for home and personal services. Our registered address and data controller contact: privacy@jakada.io.
2. Data we collect
- Identity & contact: name, email address, WhatsApp number.
- Payment: Stripe payment intent and charge IDs (card details are held by Stripe, not us).
- Task content: photos, messages, and updates exchanged during a task.
- Tasker verification: government ID type/number, proof of address, guarantor NINs (stored AES-256-GCM encrypted).
- Usage data: IP addresses, browser/device info, cron and webhook logs.
3. How we use your data
- To match you with taskers and fulfil your bookings.
- To process payments and disburse tasker earnings.
- To send booking confirmations, status updates, and rating prompts via email and WhatsApp.
- To verify tasker identity and prevent fraud.
- To comply with legal obligations.
4. Legal basis (UK GDPR)
- Contract performance — processing your booking and payments.
- Legitimate interests — platform security, fraud prevention, service improvement.
- Legal obligation — record-keeping, tax compliance.
- Consent — marketing emails (you may withdraw at any time).
5. Data sharing
We share data only with:
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Flutterwave — tasker disbursements.
- Resend — transactional email delivery.
- Termii — WhatsApp messaging.
- Cloudflare R2 — media storage.
- Supabase — database and real-time events.
We do not sell your personal data.
6. Retention
We retain personal data for as long as your account is active or as required by law. On a verified erasure request, we anonymise your PII and delete associated media within 30 days.
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or port your data, and to object to processing. To exercise any right, email privacy@jakada.io. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the ICO (ico.org.uk).
8. Cookies
We use a single session cookie (admin_token) for admin authentication. No third-party tracking or advertising cookies are set.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be notified by email or an in-app banner. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
